Hi, I’m Amy Jean Carter!
I believe that people with Type 1 Diabetes deserve to be treated as whole people…
Who not only are supported in managing their blood sugars and overall physical health, but also empowered to live mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially balanced and vibrant lives.
I have had Type 1 diabetes mellitus for over 30 years, since I was 8 years old.
I have spent over 20 years in the medical field working with people with Type 1 Diabetes, LADA, MODY, Type 2 Diabetes, and women living with pre-existing Diabetes during pregnancy. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.
I have also spent over 20 years studying and practicing holistic medicine, including energy healing, intuitive and psychic development, transformational and spiritual life coaching, shamanic ways, transpersonal psychology, integrative trauma therapy, different modalities of meditation and breathwork, and continue to study Somatic Experiencing techniques to offer my clients in their healing.
I have been on an adventure-driven journey of the body, heart, soul, mind, and spirit my entire life, and am now bringing everything I have learned and integrated to the table, to serve fresh up to other soulful people living with Type 1 Diabetes (and other forms of Diabetes as well).
More About Amy Jean Carter
Amy Jean lives in Portland, Oregon with her young son, Sollin. She loves to hike, backpack, paddle board, spend quality time with her loved ones, travel the World, paint, read, adventure.
She looks forward to volunteering at camps for children with T1DM again as well as with the organization AYUDA to educate and empower others with Type 1 Diabetes internationally.
A large focus of her work these days is to aide others living with chronic disease in recognizing that they are so much more than their physical body, and all the trials that come along with living this life with Type 1 Diabetes they can surpass.
This is why Amy has taken on the challenge to combine ALL of her teachings together into ONE, to formulate a dynamic platform – The Holistic Type 1 – that will guide people in to living their best life with Type 1 Diabetes.
The Holistic Type 1 primarily encompasses Transformative Coaching and Type 1 Diabetes Education, which includes a holistic approach that incorporates different ways to manage Type 1 Diabetes and the distress that comes from living with this disease.
One of Amy’s gifts is her ability to get to the core of what is truly causing distress in one’s life and identifies the tools necessary to eradicate the distress.
She motivates others to take inspired action, and move forward in life in a more peaceful, empowered, and inspired way.
In the future, as her son continues to age, she plans to hold retreats for people with Type 1 Diabetes, along with outdoor adventure trips around the World, as she has done in the past.
